小學生王葆（朱祺隆）天真活潑喜歡幻想，每當在學習上碰到困難，或在課餘生活中遇到麻煩時，他就幻想有一個神奇的寶貝出現來幫他輕鬆地實現目標。某天，王葆在釣魚時偶遇傳說中能幫主人實現任何願望的寶葫蘆（陳佩斯 配音），喜出望外，寶葫蘆不但幫王葆釣到了魚、做成高級模型、完成課外作業，還變換成各種形狀令他開心。 王葆在學校裏突飛猛進的表現令同學們大為驚詫，劉老師（梁詠琪）也改變了原來看他的目光，而寶葫蘆助他在泳池中大顯神威，輕易獲得參加校隊的機會後，他的生活更是接近完美。然而，王葆逐漸發現寶葫蘆原來不分青紅皂白，隻懂盲目服從……
